The Yorkshire Terrier was originally bred in Yorkshire, England, in the 1800's, as a rat hunter. It was bred from the Skye, Dandie Dinmont, and Maltese Terriers.
Anatomy: The Yorkshire Terrier is about 9 inches (23 cm) tall and weighs less than 7 pounds (3 kg). The long, silky coat is steely-blue, but tan on the face and chest; puppies are black at birth. Grooming is very important and must be done regularly. The tail is often docked.
